Keeping the Voice of Kangaroo Island Alive!
Kangaroo Island is more than just a place; it’s a tight-knit family. At the heart of our daily life is our local community radio station—the voice that keeps us connected, informed, and entertained. From emergency broadcasts during bushfire seasons to showcasing local musicians and sharing island news, our station is the heartbeat of KI.
However, staying on the air isn’t easy. Unlike big city stations, we don’t have a massive pool of corporate sponsors to draw from. Our local businesses are incredible, but in a small community like ours, there is a limit to the traditional funding base available. We rely on the passion of volunteers and the generosity of listeners to keep the transmitters humming.
Right now, we are facing a critical gap in our operating costs. This is why we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to ensure the music doesn’t stop and the mics don’t go cold. Most of our gear is 30 years old and needs replacemet. This is just one of the things we need to fund alongside day-to-day running costs.
